Questions
Frequently asked
For firms entering Syria
What does Brader & Partners do?
We are a specialist house for Syria’s reconstruction, running two practices: Market Entry & Talent (executive search with compliance screening, partnerships & growth advisory, and certification & placement) and Engineering & Delivery (master planning & feasibility, development and project management with site supervision, and testing & commissioning).
Why work with one firm for both talent and engineering?
Because the two are inseparable in reconstruction: you need the right people and the ability to deliver. Our engineering heritage is what lets us pair genuine execution with market-entry, talent and certification services — one partner accountable from strategy through commissioning, rather than three vendors pointing at each other.
Which market and sectors do you focus on?
Syria’s reconstruction, exclusively, across three sectors: real estate development; construction, project management and engineering; and power and energy. We go deep in these rather than spreading thin.
How do you manage compliance and sanctions risk?
Every candidate and counterparty is screened to international background and sanctions-exposure standards, so your first hires and partners reduce your risk of entry rather than create it. We also recommend clients take their own legal and compliance advice for their jurisdiction.
Is it now permitted to operate and invest in Syria?
Yes. United States sanctions on Syria were lifted in 2025, and in August 2026 the United States removed Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism — described by officials as eliminating the final major barrier to private-sector investment. The market is open to legitimate investment and reconstruction activity. The precise position still depends on your jurisdiction and counterparties, so we structure engagements conservatively and advise clients to confirm their own position with qualified legal counsel.
How are engagements structured and invoiced?
Engagements are structured and invoiced offshore, removing the payment and currency friction of operating in a reopening market.
What are your fees?
Executive search is a retained fee, structured per mandate. Advisory and engineering work is scoped and priced per engagement. We agree the basis with you before any work begins.
How quickly can you place a senior hire or mobilise?
Timelines depend on the seniority and specialism of the role, but our diaspora and regional network lets us move faster than a cold search. We agree a target timeline at the outset of each mandate.
What is the certification & placement service?
It is the layer between sourcing labour and delivering training: independent, internationally accredited skills and safety certification, pairing certified people with the employers who need them. Accreditation partnerships are in development.
For candidates & the diaspora
I’m a senior professional or part of the Syrian diaspora — how do I register, and is it confidential?
Get in touch through our contact form. Your profile is confidential by default and never shared without your consent. We focus on leadership and specialist roles and build long-term relationships rather than a database.
Do you handle junior or high-volume hiring?
Our search practice focuses on senior and specialist roles. High-volume workforce needs are addressed through our certification & placement service rather than individual search.
